The Malaysia-Japan Academic Association (MJAA) is delighted to invite our members, families, friends, and students to join our MJAA Summer Family Day 2026, featuring a special educational visit to the Shibuya Clean Plant (Shibuya Waste-to-Energy Facility).
This unique industrial tour offers participants an opportunity to explore one of Tokyo’s advanced waste management facilities and gain first-hand insights into how municipal solid waste is transformed into energy while protecting the environment. The visit is designed to introduce participants of all ages to the principles of the circular economy, sustainable urban infrastructure, and responsible resource management through an engaging and interactive learning experience.
Whether you are an engineer, researcher, student, parent, or simply curious about how modern cities manage waste sustainably, this visit promises to be both informative and inspiring.

🕙 Factory Tour: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
🕙 Meeting Time: 10:00 AM (Please arrive 5–10 minutes early.)

Who Can Join?
This is a family-friendly event open to:
- MJAA members
- Family members
- Students
- Friends and guests
Children 6 years old and above are warmly welcome. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the visit.
What You’ll Learn
During the guided tour, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Discover how household waste is collected, sorted, and processed.
- Learn how waste is converted into electricity and useful energy.
- Explore environmental technologies that reduce emissions and improve resource efficiency.
- Understand the role of waste management in achieving a circular economy and sustainable cities.
- Gain a behind-the-scenes perspective on one of Tokyo’s modern public infrastructure facilities.
This visit aligns with MJAA’s commitment to promoting sustainability education, industry engagement, and lifelong learning for members of all ages.
What to Wear
As this is an industrial facility, participants are kindly requested to wear:
- Comfortable casual clothing
- Closed-toe walking shoes (sneakers are recommended)
- Suitable attire for warm summer weather
Please note that sandals, slippers, and high heels are not recommended for safety reasons.
Registration
Participation is free of charge, but advance registration is required as places are limited.
Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all available places have been filled.

Registration Confirmation
As the factory tour has a maximum capacity of 40 participants, registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The first 40 registered participants will receive a confirmation email from the MJAA organizing committee. This email will serve as your official admission confirmation for the tour.
Please present your confirmation email (either printed or on your mobile device) upon arrival, as it may be required for entry to the factory.
If the tour reaches full capacity, additional registrations will be placed on a waiting list and contacted should a place become available.
