MEXRA’25 MetaConnect & Virtual Insights Program
UTM x University of Tokyo
Date: 28 November 2025
Our MetaConnect program at the University of Tokyo stands as one of the most memorable highlights of MEXRA’25. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into an inspiring academic environment that beautifully blends innovation, discipline, and cultural appreciation.

The visit began with warm welcoming remarks and enriching sharing sessions from distinguished professors of the Department of Technology Management for Innovation (TMI), complemented by contributions from UTM representatives. These exchanges broadened our perspectives on technology leadership, research frontiers, and potential collaborative pathways between our institutions.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Amy Poh Ai Ling, our dedicated host, whose exceptional coordination, guidance, and hospitality made the entire visit smooth, meaningful, and unforgettable. With her support, we explored the magnificent UTokyo campus—including the iconic ginkgo tree avenue glowing in golden autumn. A particularly special moment was when our participants performed a traditional Malaysian dance beneath the falling leaves, symbolizing a beautiful blend of culture and connection.
Our program continued with an exclusive visit to the Cyber Interface Lab of Prof Takuji Narumi Sensei, where we observed cutting-edge research in interactive systems and experienced emerging technology projects firsthand. We also toured the UTokyo Museum, where historical innovations and the prestigious Nobel Prize displays offered us a deeper appreciation for the university’s long-standing legacy of excellence.
Another major highlight of MEXRA’25 was the Virtual Insights subprogram. We visited Money Forward Inc., a leading technology company where two of our seniors from the Computer Graphics and Multimedia Software program at the Faculty of Computing are currently contributing their expertise. The visit provided valuable exposure to real-world applications of technology, workplace culture, and innovation-driven industry practices, inspiring our participants to envision their own future pathways.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the professors, coordinators, the TMI Department, Dr. Amy, and our UTM alumni for making the MetaConnect and Virtual Insights experiences impactful and transformative. These engagements not only enhanced our academic understanding but also strengthened cultural exchange, cross-border friendships, and future opportunities for collaborative innovation.
